A-36/A572-50

A-36/A572-50's yield strength is increased to 50,000 psi (higher than that of a normal A-36). Because of this, A-36/A572-50 is often used in structural applications that require higher strength than standard A-36. A-36/A572-50 can also be galvanized to provide increased corrosion resistance. A36 (Grade 50) versus A572 Gr 50 - Structural engineering I selected ASTM A572 Grade 50 rods because of the tensile strength of 65 ksi, which meets my shear resistance requirements. The project is Design-Build, and the contractor is requesting the use of ASTM A36, Grade 50 rods, which I'm assuming are more readily available (thus cheaper).

The ASTM A572 specification is the Standard Specification for High-Strength Low-Alloy Columbium-Vanadium Structural Steel for plates used in general construction and structural applications. ASTM A572 includes five grades with specified minimum yield strengths of 42, 50

Similarly, the strength of grades 42, 55, 60 & 65 in Mpa are as follows - 290, 380,415, and 450. Typically, the use of high-strength low-alloy or HSLA ASTM A572 Grade 55 is intended for applications in welded, bolted, or riveted constructions in either bridges or in buildings. Grades like these have additions of elements columbium & vanadium. ASTM A572 Steel - Ultra-High Strength - CopperloyA572 Grade 50 has a 139% greater Yield Strength than A36 steel. A572 steel does not require preheat or post heating during the welding process and standard AWS D1.1 welding standards apply. Higher grades of steels will require preheating which is not economical compared to savings in weight. ASTM A572 Steel Channel - High StrengthASTM A572 is a high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel with alloy content of columbium and vanadium, which strengthens the steel and provides higher yield point strength than ASTM A36. A572 HSLA steel channel is ideal for the applications where needs higher strength for it reduces the thickness and weight. A572 steel channel - UPN dimensions

ASTM A572 Steel Plate - A572 Grade 42, 50, 55, 60, 65

ASTM A572 steel plate is made of ASTM AA572, a High-Strength Low-Alloy, Columbium-Vanadium Structural Steel. There are five grades of high-strength low-alloy structural steel shapes, plates, sheet piling, and bars. Grades 42 [290], 50 [345], and 55 [380] are best for riveted, bolted, or welded structures. CSA G40.21 50W / 350W Structural, Carbon & HSLA Steel

A high-strength, low-alloy steel plate grade specified within G40.21 of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). This grade is utilized in a variety of structural applications. It is also referred to as 350W, which is its metric designation. This material is also available as Charpy tested when referenced with a "T", such as 50WT / 350WT. Difference between A572 Gr.50 and A588 Gr.A High Strength A588 Gr.A steel, similar to ASTM A572-Gr50, is also a high strength low alloy steel, but is a Copper Bearing steel offering approximately four times the corrosion resistance of structural carbon steel grade. This material has a minimum yield in the range of 42 KSI to 50 KSI depending upon thickness. ASTM A588 is an American material standard for hot Rolled steel plates for corrosive FAQ's:Steel Grades- Type of Steel- Steel supplier The Grade specification is directly relative to the minimum yield strength requirements. A572-G50 requires a minimum yield strength of 50,000 psi. and includes a minimum tensile strength of 65,000 psi. The yield strength measures the amount of stress load that the material can withstand before beginning to deform and bend.

ASTM A572 Grade 50 High Tensile Low alloy steel - JOIN

Grade 50 is used in general plate applications when the plate will be riveted, bolted, or welded. Grade 50 is a Columbium-Vanadium steel that offers a minimum yield of 50,000 PSI. In addition, ASTM A572 Grade 50 is noted for its increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Grade 50 contains more alloying elements than plain carbon steel and thus is somewhat more difficult to form.
